Facility strategy

A facility can be physical, like an actual terminal or refinery with a street address, or logical, like a city or market. How you are pricing and selling fuel determines how you set up your facilities.

You should create a facility for every location where you will offer a unique base price. The base price is the price of your product before freight or other customer - or destination-specific price adjustments.

You will also set your delivery rates from each facility to each customer location. If you have different freight rates for a given customer location based on the source of the product, you may choose to create a facility for each of those source locations.

If you sell fuel from many locations to many different customer locations, consider working with the Gasology Customer Success team to develop a custom pricing strategy that you can update from one of our Excel-based tools.

Physical locations

If you are selling products that are picked up by your customer (FOB Origin), you must enter the actual physical address of these facilities.

Logical locations

Most merchants who are selling delivered products that may be sourced from one of several specific terminals use logical facilities. A logical location may be a rack/terminal city or a market.

Because all facilities on Gasology must have an address, simply choose a central location in the city where you need a logical location, or use the address of one of your supply terminals.

Deciding how to create your facilities

When you design a price on Gasology, you’ll start by choosing a product, a time period, and a facility to make a base price. You can later adjust that price based on how the product is sold, who it is sold to, and where it is going. Everywhere you are sending a unique price quote from should be a facility on Gasology.
